A grim diagnosis for our ailing U.S. health care system - The Washington Post

  1. The US health care system is in a terrible state as we are well aware. Resolving the issues is not going to be an easy task. Many of the problems that exist in the system are because of the foundation that the system was set up on.

I think the biggest issue is money, and how the money is distributed. The fact that there is not a single payer system or governmental cost control is really where the problems stem from.

Health costs are rising world wide as technology advances but, the US unlike other nations has no built in controls to prevent costs from getting out of control.

In order to resolve the issues that the US faces, there would have to be an entire overhaul of the current financing and payment systems. This major change would impact the delivery of care and outcomes.

The US is in so deep that it would be nearly impossible to enact such a massive change....fixing US health care is going to require several bouts of trial and error.
